Deep into the Gospel of John

We have a small group at St. James who meet every Wednesday at 11am to study the Bible. At the moment we are looking at teh Gospel of John. I think it is wonderful that we come together for prayer, study, and encouragement every week. I think this routine is good for my soul. Hope you are busy finding ways to deepen your understanding of the Bible. I cannot imagine a better way to begin my Wednesday mornings. Kris+

Wednesday Eucharist

We have such a wonderful group who come together in the library (just behind the West wall of the church). As ever, today's service was terrific and spirit-filled.

My Hero!

Perhaps the first two things I will unpack are these two gifts from coach. He will always remain an integral part of my development...he is a man who has inspired many precisely because he has a servants heart. Go Bobcats!!!

We're here...

Here I am...St James in a beautiful church with a beautiful future and beautiful people. Today I spent time with a wonderful man named Clif and his beautiful wife Muriel. What a glorious afternoon celebrating Holy Communion and being able to be a part of this wonderful family.

I also enjoyed "The Magic Skillet" where about ten local clergy gather every Wednesday for breakfast. It is so nice to be making friends and settling in here. This is a good place.

I will close this particular thread of my blog today and open a new one as our initial transition has now ended. I am off this weekend to preach at the wedding of Will Bigelow and Blair (two RU students) who will be getting married in Richmond at St. Paul's.

Life is never dull and is certainly busy during the transitions...but we are finding our way, meeting people, learning names, and serving God.

Had my first vestry meeting last night and signed all of the paperwork related to St. James. I noticed the sign even had my name on it yesterday...that was a surprise. We have lots going on and we are on our way.

Happy Anniversary, Happy Birthday, Happy Da

What a great Monday. We enjoyed a trip to Build a Bear with Kiah for her birthday. We exchanged her Queen Mattress for a Full one which made her bed wonderful...until she climbed into mine last night. Our wedding anniversary seems to take a back seat to Kiah's world so perhaps I can do something nice with Caroline this coming week.
Life is settling down a bit. The second POD is now empty....WoNDERUL! Now if we can only find a place to put everything. There is a large give away pile by the front door. This house is very comfortable and hopefully in time it will really be HOME.
Exciting to see the Redskins doing so well. Caroline claims it is because she is now here. Whatever the reason, it is looking like a good football year!
I enjoyed my first clericus meeting this morning with all local clergy including Churchill Gibson who is a wonderful priest of many many years. It was good to see other clergy and to know that I have a good support system up here. God is so generous!
I read the article from the Radford News Journal and was moved to tears. What an amazing article. I miss Radford and will be eager to see what goo things happen in the coming years. I hope some of the friendships begun there will be lifelong.
Peace be with you. K+
